3rd JULY 2010
"Due to proper concerns about the use of illegal drugs in Plastic People and the sale of alcohol after permitted hours on 11 February 2010 Hackney Police lodged a Review of Plastic People?s Premises Licence. The management of Plastic People accept that the police concerns were justified and have been working closely with the police to ensure standards are improved. Plastic People has a zero tolerance attitude to drugs and are grateful for the assistance of police in highlighting these serious issues. As a result of the police?s actions the management of Plastic People has been restructured and the club has agreed to close for a 6 week period from 1 June 2010 in order for the premises to be refurbished and for new policies to be put into place. By agreement the police will withdraw their application to revoke the premises licence and the club has agreed to a number of stringent conditions to be placed on their licence. Both parties are committed to working together to ensure Plastic People remains an important, safe and law-abiding venue that enhances the cultural life of London."
Regards,
Plastic People
